Alfonso Gómez, CEO of BBVA in Switzerland, has participated this Thursday, together with other figures from the Swiss financial sector and other leading industries, in the event ‘The Secrets of Leadership in Times of Disruptive Change’ organised by RFS

Disruption itself is not new nor does it happen all at once. It is a continuous demand for innovation in response to changes. While most executives are fully aware of its importance, few have figured out the best way to create cultures of high engagement and trust that are open to the challenge in a world of ever-increasing complexity and acceleration.

This event invites top Swiss industry leaders to share the keys to effective strategic leadership in times of massive transformation, to build bridges between these two worlds and to explore the possible implications of the new economy.

The event began with an inspirational opening speech by Craig Smith, former CEO of Marriott International, the world’s largest hotel management company. Afterwards, several top-level speakers shared their vision on how to lead successfully teams and companies in times of uncertainty.

Alfonso Gómez, CEO of BBVA in Switzerland, stressed not only the importance of promoting excellence in each of the areas within a company, but also of ensuring that each and every member of the team has group awareness and innovative thinking in order to achieve objectives.

“To lead in times of uncertainty, it’s important to find a way to generate enthusiasm and curiosity at work. And when extraordinary people have courage to leave their comfort zone, they tend to produce extraordinary results”, Alfonso Gómez firmly pointed out in his intervention.

Convinced of the high impact of building high-value work teams in the Swiss financial ecosystem, Alfonso Gómez has recently been appointed vice-president of the AFBS and is a member of the SFI. Likewise, BBVA in Switzerland is already part of The Crypto Valley, an independent, non-governmental association established to take full advantage of Switzerland’s strengths to build the world’s leading blockchain and cryptographic technologies ecosystem.

BBVA in Switzerland has not overlooked the enormous potential of the Blockchain to transform and improve its business. “We are facing one of the biggest and most exciting technological changes of our era, and its implementation presents many obstacles that will require close collaboration between financial regulators, financial institutions and technology partners,” concludes Alfonso Gómez.
