Besides a themed keynote panel, five of Switzerland’s best fintech startups will feature the swiss round of BBVA Open Talent 2018, competing for all-inclusive trips to BBVA Open Summit Madrid, Mexico (roadshow with high executives from the bank) and the opportunity to do an innovation pilot with the spanish bank. BBVA and Seedstars are hosting BBVA Open Talks in Zurich for the first time. It will happen on October 10th, at 8.30am, at Impact Hub Zurich - Bogen D and will include a pitching and Q&A session, a panel on “The future of Swiss fintech” with Penny Schiffer, Head of Startup Initiatives at Swisscom , and a networking lunch at 1pm.

The five companies selected to pitch at BBVA Open Talks Zurich have been chosen by BBVA Switzerland from a set of 25 applicants. The winner of Country Award in Switzerland will undergo an in-depth evaluation by BBVA experts, an immersion week in the global headquarters, a roadshow to Mexico’s bustling fintech ecosystem with the Bank's executives and the possibility to win the Open Talent Award or one of the Fintech Business Awards at the Open Summit in Madrid. The prerequisites to participate in the competition were:
  • To have incorporated from January 1st 2012, onwards
  • Have a turnover of up to €3 million in 2017
  • Be a fintech or fintech-related startup
  • Have at least a demo or a beta prototype
Seedstars has been supporting BBVA’s quest for the most promising fintech startups across the world for the past four years, with special focus in Latin America, Asia and now Switzerland. “ We are proud of hosting together with Seedstars the first Open Talks in Zurich, one of the most important financial hubs in the world, where the fintechs are playing an active role in the transformation of the financial ecosystem ” explains Alfonso Gómez, CEO at BBVA in Switzerland.
