Streaming, although it has existed since the end of a few years, has considerably increased its popularity in recent years, becoming one of the most common ways of consuming multimedia content.

From movies to eSports tournaments, there are streaming platforms for all tastes and the estimated 900 million subscribers worldwide across all platforms is proof of this.

The growth of these platforms in recent years has reached such a point that they represent 25% of the television market.

Undoubtedly, the world of eSports has ceased to be a simple pastime to become a millionaire industry, which is also sponsored by large companies.

Streaming series and movies

Three names lead the way when it comes to streaming series and movies: Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney Plus. The first continues to be the most popular, even though during 2022 it has experienced some setbacks in its growth, it remains with an estimated more than 220 million subscribers.

In the case of Amazon Prime, it is closing in on its No. 1 competition with over 200 million subscribers and annual growth that has impressed many.

One of the most recent, Disney Plus, has already earned its position in the list of most used streaming platforms, surpassing 129 million subscribers.

Although these three are the ones with the highest number of subscribers, other popular services are also HBO Max, Paramount +, Hulu and many others that are climbing positions thanks to the number of subscribers that they gather each year.

Streaming music and podcasts

When it comes to music and podcasts, streaming platforms have not been left behind. Among the most popular are Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and Amazon Music. The first leads the list with almost 300 million subscribers worldwide and with almost 20 years in the market.

Other popular ones include Deezer, Tidal, Soundcloud, and Pandora.

Over the years, Spotify and its evolution have managed to provide a friendly environment, easy to use and with facilities to share content with friends and acquaintances. However, it is not the first in terms of sound quality. On this particular issue, Deezer rules the roost.

Deezer is one of the platforms with the best sound quality on the market, offering HIFI accounts, with the desired FLAC sound format.

Video game streaming and eSports tournaments

In the case of popular streaming video games and eSports, some of the platforms that stand out are Twitch, YouTube Gaming, HitBox and InstaGib TV.

The most popular in the area is undoubtedly Twitch, with a total of 41.5 million users in the United States alone.

An industry to watch: streaming platforms

With the constant growth that they have presented over the years and the boost that the pandemic gave to this type of service, streaming platforms are, without a doubt, an industry to take into account when investing, since estimates that this increase will continue and, furthermore, it is an excellent way to diversify your investment portfolio.
