BBVA Switzerland will donate more than 7 thousand francs to help Ukraine
BBVA Switzerland launched a solidarity campaign on the 28th March among its employees to contribute to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. For its part, the bank is committed to donating the same amount collected by all its employees, which will be used to support the initiatives proposed by the Red Cross.
The donation campaign, closing on 10th April, has raised 3’590 francs among its 120 employees. BBVA Switzerland, in line with its commitment to this cause, will donate a total of 7’180 francs to the organisation to help the victims of the conflict.
According to the UN, 4 million people could cross Ukraine’s borders if the military offensive continues and 12 million people could be in need of humanitarian aid in the coming months. We wish to ensure this contribution reaches the field, where the Red Cross has recognized experience in the emergency challenges, especially in mass migration of the population and its potential acquisition of refugee status; and in women and children in situations of vulnerability or who are trapped in the conflict zone.
In addition, BBVA Group has joined a declaration signed by 49 companies worldwide to support refugees. The initiative is part of the Tent Partnership for Refugees, a global non-profit organisation to which BBVA Group belongs.
From holding we are working in parallel in all our geographies to provide assistance to Ukrainian refugees to attend to their needs.
As a sign of solidarity with Ukraine, the main BBVA buildings in Madrid ( the headquarters in La Vela and the BBVA Foundation) and the BBVA towers in Mexico City and Buenos Aires are lit up every night in the colours of the Ukrainian flag.
