BBVA is participating in the fourth edition of the Swiss Private Banking awards 2019
Swiss Private Banking is meeting for the fourth consecutive year at the annual ‘Private Banking & Wealth Management: Switzerland 2019‘ conference held in Zurich. This year BBVA is participating in and sponsoring the event, which will be held on 11 December. The conference, lasting one day, will be attended by more than 250 bank delegates along with providers of technology and other financial services.
The ‘Private Banker International’ awards are bestowed by the British publisher Verdict and handed out annually in Zurich, London, Frankfurt, Dubai, and Singapore.
The conference agenda includes topics such as the future of Private Banking, digital strategy, technology, and sustainable investments. The sessions will give way to debates and networking opportunities among the participants. At night, the awards ceremony will be held during a gala dinner for the best entities specializing in managing high wealth.
On behalf of BBVA, the event will feature the participation of Javier Rubio, Director of Business Development in Switzerland, who will lead the panel on a customer-focused digital strategy, and will present the keys for the digital experience of customers when opening an account to be a quick and effective process, while also complying with regulatory requirements.
According to Javier Rubio, “Opening a Private Banking account has to be as pleasant an experience as opening an account on Netflix or on Spotify.” Alfonso Gómez, CEO of BBVA in Switzerland and several team members will also attend the evening and the awards ceremony of the best banks in the Alpine arena.
The keys to the conference
The conference is split into four sessions with discussion panels. The first, introductory session will deal with the future of ‘Wealth Management’ and the ‘Next Generation Wealth Manager’ and discuss the possibility of the regulator becoming an opportunity for the customer-centric advisory service.
The second session is split into two information flows on the customer-centered digital strategy and new investments in the digital environment. The third session will deal with cross-platform connectivity and discuss the so-called ‘Conversational Banking’ and the need to exceed customer expectations.
The fourth and final session will focus on sustainability and how Private Banking is integrating sustainable investments into its offers.

The working sessions will give way to a gala dinner and subsequent awards ceremony. More than 50 banks located in Switzerland and the main ‘Fintechs’ of the industry, Switzerland and internationally are meeting here. Alfonso Gómez, CEO of BBVA in Switzerland, highlighted: “This is a historic opportunity to celebrate two years of intense work and transformation, which have put BBVA in the spotlight as the Bank to consider for the transformation of Swiss Private Banking and to offer the best financial solutions to the customer.”
The award categories give recognition to the best banks that have stood out for their contribution to digital transformation, high-value service with the customer and sustainability as a focus of attention on investment alternatives. New generations, technological developments, philanthropy, and diversity will also be recognized with a prize for each category.
BBVA in Switzerland has received three nominations for the following categories: ‘Outstanding Wealth Management Technology Platform in Switzerland’, ‘Outstanding Customer Relationship Service and Engagement in Switzerland’, and ‘Most Innovative Private Bank/Wealth Manager of the Year’.
